The next meeting is Sunday, November 4th, at Harrison's Comics & Collectibles in Salem from 2pm to 5 pm.

Labors of Love...

The long weekend had the gang showing off their "Labors" of love at Harrison Comics. Jay Gordon brought in a Super Deformed Dracula that these old eyes have never seen before. Jay seems to find some rare pieces in his travels, including $5 Billiken Metaluna Mutant....lucky sonuva......

Charlie Kuphal returned after a much too long an absence to provide the usual, cool and unusual from his collection. A replica of the cane used by Lawrence Talbot in the Universal classic, The Wolfman. Actually, the cane was used by Larry's own Daddy, to whoop the wolf out of his son! Charlie also showed us a Life Cast of Boris Karloff, an Ed White Imhotep and the John Ulakovic sculpted "Tower Of London". This was the first piece in the Janus Company line.

Our Web Site Hostess wit' da' mostess, Traci Briery, had a converted action figure from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", transorming the figure nicely into Willow. Traci won a Award for this conversion at a Sunday Funnies Convention. Also from the Briery bench, G.I. Chimp, G.I. Joe + Planet of the Apes=G.I. Chimp!

PhotoBoy, Robert Butler, has stated a new project, taking a tree root and converting it into a underwater reef for a Elasmasaur. John Dagdidgian had what he called one of his worst purchases, a vacu-formed "Seaview" from Voyage To The Bottom Of the Sea. John told us of the horrors of putting this together and how much retooling it would take. He also had the Monsters In Motion Hydra, the multi headed dragon from Jason and the Argonauts.  He plans to make a zoo scene for this beast.

Nick D continues to promote his love of the bat, with Clare Pearson's beautifully sculpted Gotham Gas Light Batman. Nick nailed the paint scheme and I for one was glad to actually see this piece, because this has become a very rare kit. Nick has also added to his functional sculptures line; he is currently making scary switch plates to go along along with the twisted time pieces. Ovi Raffa knocked us out with the new Shawn Nagle sculpt, Mike Tyson. He did not buy the Evander Holyfield ear to compliment the kit.

Anthony Anese is beginning another new project, a Dragon Ball Z, and this obviously runs in the family because...Uncle John Delamere has developed his own character, Darian Blade. This is yet another "Off With Their Heads" project, with brave model kits and dolls giving up their parts to create something unique. John also had the new Stan Winston action figures as well as the new McFarlane/Clive Barker "Tortured Souls" figures. These are NOT for the Youngin's, folks! But, they are very, very cool. The detail and the articulation of the parts are just amazing...

It was good to see the Lovely Lucy and the even lovelier Keith Mulholland at the meeting. Keith is promising to get back into the hobby habit soon. Ol' Uncle Bob was "silent" at this meeting. No, unfortunately for the group he never shut up, but his projects were all silent film figures, The Billiken Phantom, Grasso's repainted Nosferatu and the Barrymore Hyde.

Remember, the ECFA has a table at GraniteCon the following week, October 13th at the VFW in Nashua, NH.
