The next meeting is Sunday,
August 5th, at Harrison's Comics & Collectibles in Salem from 2pm to 5 pm.
Even the heat of New England summer can't keep
some of the members of ECFA from being creative
and showing off their stuff. Nick D. stopped by to
tell about his latest projects,
including
the Gotham Gas Light Batman,
sculpted
by Mike Hill and Clare Pearson.
Nick
also mentioned sculpting some Aurora head
conversions. Our meeting photographer and natural
history buff, Robert Butler,
had a
Kaiyodo Whale. This
is a pre-painted vinyl
piece and absolutely beautiful.
Ovi Raffa brought
in a classic piece of resin,
the
Mark Neuman Moonsinger. Ovi
continues to experiment with new techniques,
and,
like the rest of us, is learning something new
with each piece. Our web site Guardian, Traci
Briery sculpted a very cool little penguin,
dressed
as a British Beefeater. This piece looks like it
stepped out of an
Alice in Wonderland book!
Ol'
Uncle Bob had a new piece from a new company on
the scene. The
Clone Factory
(http://www.theclonefactory.com/)
has several pieces in their line,
but the piece I had to start with was "Lemned
the Martian."
This
is a bust that I just used pastels on and did it
in about an hour. The piece has a ton of detail
and was just a ball to paint.
Anthony Anese is still keeping busy,
taking
a Venom toy and giving him a new head and...a pet.
Yep, Anthony has started sculpting a Venom-styled
dog! This
"power puppy" is shaping up to be a
great companion for Spiderman's biggest foe.
We
look forward to this piece being at a future
meeting all painted up! John
Delamere continues to lop off body parts
(not
his own...or any other breathing creatures...that
we know of) and his latest bash is The Battle
Fairy,
with
a Nina Dolono head and leaf skeleton wings. John
also changed the Ballistic
Rose kit,
dumping
the huge rifle or cannon for
pieces more befitting this lethal lovely.
We
return the first Sunday in August,
sans
Uncle Bob,
who
is running the Model Contest for the ImagineNation
Expo in Las Vegas.
-----------------------------------------------
Some
very sad news for members of our club and modelers
in the New England area. Russ Norman passed away
this month after a long illness. Russ joined us
last year and always brought enthusiasm and warmth
with him to our meetings and to IPMS area shows.
Our condolences to his family...Russ, you will be
missed.
