The next meeting is Sunday,
February 4th, at Harrison's Comics & Collectibles in Salem from 2pm to 5 pm.
The first meeting of 2001 went pretty well,
even though Uncle Bob couldn't be there...The kids
played well together Bob!
The meeting started off with us going over a
few things. We discussed the May show of Wings & Wheels
in Chicopee, MA on the 25th of March. Whoever's interested in carpooling should contact some of
the members in your area and try to hook up.
We're hoping for a good turnout from our club
to this show and any other upcoming IPMS shows. I'm
getting a list together as we speak for all of the New
England IPMS shows and the "Figure" shows
that we try to make. These will be up on the ECFA website
https://ecfaclub.tripod.com/ecfa within a
week or two.... Keep an eye out for it!
Also mentioned was the fact that the club site
now has a classified section that we can list stuff
that we have for sale. 5% of the sales price goes to
the club fund to help out with costs. We put off collecting the $10 annual dues till
the next meeting, since Robert nor I wanted to
handle it....ohhhhhh Uncle Bob.
Still waiting for word from Derek Foley about
the upcoming comic shows in the Boston area. We
discussed taking their offer on free advertising and
table for these shows and thought it was a great way to
recruit new members and get the word out about the
club.
Time for show & tell...
John Dagdigian
brought his winged monkey kit which he achieved a cool
paint job on, doing the monkey in color and the rock base
in Black & white. Cool idea John! He also
brought along a The sea serpent from the movie Seven
faces of Dr. Lao, Sculpted by Joe Lodttie, and The
Zanti from The Outer Limits series which were in progress.
Traci Briery brought along 6 Universal Busts which
she's doing a production line paint job on. She also
showed us her Toy-Biz Spidey and Wolverine that she's
been working on and the Character Shop's Spidey that
she's done some converting to and laying on some
paint. She also brought along one of her original sculpts
to share, Lobo's dog named "Dawg" from
the comic book series.... Fine work as usual.
Traci picked up
the Tales of the Crypt book at the last Sunday
Funnies show for a great price, which she brought to
share with us.
Club member Russ Norman had his
Zaleska figure, which looked great, and his Fatman
Production's The Raven kit that was still in
progress, but looking good. Bryan DeConte brought along
his Mad Lab's Godzilla vs. Mothra kit which he's sculpting a
base for. consisting of a torn up road and
demolished buildings, cool idea in a small scale. He also
brought along his Rodan Robin kit from Mad Labs,
Revell's Rat-Fink re-issue which were in progress. He
also had his McFarlane's Rob Zombie figure with him to
show. Anthony Annese had a good Christmas by the looks
of it...He brought his Polar Light's Guillotine
and Godzilla kits, which I'm sure he'll be starting
on soon, if he hasn't already. He also took along
his Resident Evil 3 Action Figure to show us.
John Delamere showed us the two JJ models. The first
was called "The Good" Which surprising to
all in attendance was built almost box-stock (he did
add some cloth ribbon). He also had the girl from The
Beauty & Her Champion, which he built without the
"Champion." He added some wings from an angel Christmas
figurine to her and placed on a wood base. He also
brought along the Julie Bell pre-paint figure, and he
showed us the conversions that he was doing on a few of
the AMT Star Trek figures. Always impressed with the
work out of John.
Ovi Raffa showed off his Billikan
Mummy with the custom base from Resin Slave. Nice work Ovi!
And last but not least was Jay Coimbra with the
Fewture kit Liz-Spanking, which if I remember right is
his first figure kit that he's working on with some
guidance from Ovi. From the looks of it people,
we have some competition on the rise!
We also had a raffle in which we raised $15 for
the club, thanks to all that participated!
